2003 996TT X50 GT700, PSS9 Coilovers & GT2 Conversion

The owner of this 2003 Seal Grey 996TT came to us because he wasn't happy with the lag that his optional $18,000 Porsche X50 kit gave his car. Instead opted for an EVO GT700 kit utilizing much quicker spooling Garrett ball-bearing turbo chargers. We improved the braking with EVO's Club Sport front brake kit which still fits underneath the light-weight 18 inch Champion wheels. For improved handling we lowered the car with Bilstein PSS9s. We also added some H&R sway bars (front and rear) for better turn in. The Porsche Aerokit front bumper was too "boring" so we did our customary full GT2 front end conversion.

As one Seal Grey 996TT (pictured rear) is nearing its GT640 conversion completion in comes this bone stock seal grey 996TT X50 is on the chopping block for a GT700

We start by removing all of the cross members, drive shafts and hoses.

Now we can lower the engine and transmission.

The parts keep piling up as we continue to remove them

After removing the transmission from the engine we are ready to install the Stage III heavy duty clutch kit in order to handle all that power.

With the transmission bolted back to the engine we begin to assemble the intake plenum and turbo ducts. We can now change over the fuel rails and install high-flow injectors.)

Pictured here is one of the two custom Garrett turbo chargers that will propel this car through the 1/4mile in around 10.7 seconds.

We relocate the fuel filter and also install the high-pressure and and higher capacity fuel lines (all fire jacketed).

Before the engine goes back into the car we also installed the Europipe Stage II exhaust system.

Each exhaust has a serial number and the quality of the welds and workmanship is beyond any other exhaust on the market.

The engine bay looks discretely different with the V-Flow intake system.

With the engine in place we now hook up the remainder of the larger diameter roto-molded turbo ducts.

On go the sport headers.

The custom programming from EVOMSit is set for 91 octane.

Whilst we're waiting for the flash to complete there's time to install a set of sport pedals

When you have this much power it's a good idea to upgrade the braking system. On go the GT3 6 piston calipers and two piece rotors.)

Next we install the Bilstein PSS9 suspension kit, adjust the dampening and set the ride height.

She's almost ready to fire up now as we replace all of the original boost hoses with the EVO boost hose kit aka no blowing hoses!

She's alive and now converted to a GT2 front bumper as well!

On go the X54 tips and she fires up and runs smoothly. So much so that she will actually pass the CA SMOG emissions test.

There she sits, the finished article, 700HP, lowered on PSS9s, bigger brakes and a new look.

Off she parks next to a finished GT640 (grey) and GT700 (black). That's a lot of power in that line-up...
